A New Adventure

A New Adventure

So, I can't even believe I am typing this. I feel like our lives are a whirlwind of various adventures. It is truly a beautiful feeling of anxiety and excitement as we charter these unknown territories.

My husband is out sailing right now, for the next three days. He is in the process of obtaining his certifications to become a certified boat captain? Say that again? Yep.

You see, we have this once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a Sailboat.

Her name is Alma. Which happens to be one of our favorite mountain towns in Colorado where we grew as a family. Alma was basically our backyard. It seems incredibly serendipitous that this boat found us. Because that is exactly what she did. She is a 41ft sail boat that has been built for cruising.

After much deliberation and many sleepless nights, Chris is now flying out August 1st to check her out.

Alma has quite the story that can be found here

Those who know us, know Chris is a problem solver.  If there is a issue, he will fix it. And he will fix it the correct way.  We have been researching boats for a few months with an idea to pack everything up and go sailing. The time and effort that Alma's previous owners put in is nothing short of amazing. They took the abandoned boat and restored her beautifully. They documented the entire process along the way.

We are still waiting on a well to be drilled at our Colorado homestead and are no stranger to living off-grid. We have lived at 9,600ft for over 5 years, bringing our own water, chopping our own wood, living off of solar, and in temperatures as low as -40 degrees.

We moved to the Gulf Coast because we wanted to experience beach life for a little while. We had no idea that we would get into so much more.

Yet, the more we researched, the more we decided we had the skills to go sailing full time. So here we are!

I set a 2 year plan, we decided on a Catamaran. We purchased sailing courses through Groupon, and took and introductory course as a family to see if it would be right for us. We set our minds in that direction and began taking the steps to make it happen!

Well, our friends we made in snowy Breckenridge, Colorado, ended up purchasing Alma and after a few months have decided they were not cut out for the cruising life.  They are allowing us to essentially take over their boat loan payments. This significantly fast-forwards our timeline to sail!

We are so excited and cannot wait to post more updates.

For now, I am trying to think of a great YouTube Channel name.

Drop your suggestions below and help a girl out!
